Szeleta Park Visitor Center

Szeleta Park's exhibition entitled "Thousand-year-old secrets of the Bükk caves - The nature of the primitive man" presents: the natural treasures of Bükk, special earth history, its unique hydrography and cave system, the hive stones, the typical flora and fauna of the mountains, as well as the world-famous Szeleta culture, the on-site results of the cradle of Hungarian paleontological research.

Bükk Astronomical Observatory

The Bükk Astronomical Observatory (16 km from Lillafüred) is an astronomy and natural science visitor center of the Bükki National Park Administration, which opened on March 8, 2022, in the heart of the Bükki National Park, next to Répáshuta. The Bükki Csillagda awaits visitors with many interesting sights and interactive experiences: for example, a world-class telescope suitable for observing the Sun, a planetarium, touchable meteorites, exciting virtual space trips and a learning trail await visitors. It also organizes night programs with telescope astronomy shows on a weekly basis.

Szent István Cave

The highly protected Szent István cave can be found in Lillafüred, 3.5 km from Miskolc. Its entrance is located 500 m from the Palace Hotel, next to the Eger-Miskolc road. The total length of its cave passages is 1514 m, its vertical extent is 101 m. The length of the presented section is 170 m, the length of the route covered during the visit is 340 m round trip. In addition to special, spectacular solutions, beautiful stalactite formations make the cave an unforgettable experience.

Anna Cave

The highly protected Anna cave can be found in Lillafüred, 3 km away from Miskolc. Its entrance is located at the bottom of the Hanging Garden below the Palace Hotel, right next to the Szinva waterfall. The length of its cave passages is 570 m, of which the length of the presented section is 208 m. The cave was created in the limestone tuff released from the water of the Szinva spring. The cavity system is as old as the rock, the formation of which began 150,000-200,000 years ago and continues to this day. The specialty of the cave comes from its enclosing rock and its beautiful, unique formations.

Forest Railway (LÁEV)

The Forest Railway (LÁEV), operated by ÉSZAKERDŐ Zrt., transports its passengers mainly in protected natural areas. Its route touches Lillafüred, a hiking and holiday resort of unparalleled beauty in the Bükk Mountains. It transports nearly 200,000 passengers a year, and its main line stretches 14 kilometers in the valley of the Szinva and Garadna streams.

Miskolc Zoo

The Miskolc Zoo awaits you every day of the year! Nearly 700 individuals of more than 120 animal species from 5 continents are presented to the visitors in a special forest environment. Walking among the trees, guests can get to know not only the wild animals of the Carpathian basin, but also exotic species and domestic animals living in ancient Hungarian and distant landscapes. Miskolctapolca Cave Bath

Miskolctapolca's thermal cave bath with karst water, which is unique in Europe, was known as a favorite bathing place of Benedictine monks from the 16th century. Nowadays, there are several indoor pools in the cave system created by nature, in which a wide range of medical and wellness services ensure real regeneration for those who want to relax and heal. Of course, there are several outdoor pools in the area of more than 3.6 hectares. The water temperature of the thermal spring feeding the Cave Bath is 29.4 degrees Celsius. The water temperature of the pools is 29-35 degrees Celsius. The Bath Aqua therapy department connected to the spa offers refreshment, regeneration and healing with its many wellness and medical services.

Zsófia Lookout Tower

The romantic lookout tower overlooking the Lillafüred Palace Hotel and Lake Hámor was revived in 2022 based on the plans of the original building, handed over in 1900. From its terrace, you can see the marked slope of the Bükk plateau, the confluence of the Garadna and Szinva valleys, and the steep, wooded hillsides above Felsőhámor and Lillafüred.

Hanging garden in Lillafüred

The hanging garden is a terraced area under the building's of Palace Hotel , which is one of the most beautiful parts of the Szinva nature trail. The 'Youth Playground' welcomes visitors on its upper terrace. The lowest terrace is at the foot of the waterfall, at the entrance to the Anna cave. The other terraces are thematic and have different names, for example: Terrace of Flowers, Terrace of Music, Terrace of Poetry, Terrace of Sculpture.

Lillafüred waterfall

The Lillafüred waterfall is the largest vertical waterfall in Hungary with a height of twenty meters. The waterfall was created during the construction of the Palace Hotel in Lillafüred, so it is an artificial waterfall, originally the Szinva stream flowed into Lake Hámor.

Lake Hámor

Lake Hámor, in a stunning setting, was created by the swelling of the Garadna stream. Today it is a popular fishing and boating lake, in winter you can also go ice skating. A walking path of more than 1 kilometer leads along its shore. Lake Hámor is about 1.5 km long and 4-9 meters deep. Due to its depth and cold water, it is not suitable for bathing.

Lillafüred Chairlift Park

The Lillafüred Chairlift Park offers a beautiful view of the wonders of the Bükk Mountains from a height, which transports passengers from the Lillafüred resort area to Jávorhegy, in the direction of Bükkszentkereszt. In addition to being environmentally friendly, quiet and safe, the cable car is also a real tourist curiosity, as its route reveals many of the natural beauties of the region under Natura 2000 protection. The new cable car starts at a height of 333 meters and transports passengers to the mountain station at a height of 606 meters over a length of 1,080 meters. More than 180 people can enjoy the scenery at the same time during the 16-18 minute ride. The distance from the mountain station to Bükkszentkereszt is 2.2 km.

Lillafüred Sports and Adventure Park

The Lillafüredi Sports and Adventure Park is located in one of the most beautiful natural environments in Hungary, in a picturesque landscape, in the Szinva Valley at the foot of the Bükk Mountains, at the confluence of the Szinva Stream and the Garadna Stream. It lies in untouched nature, on an area of more than two hectares, in the Bükk National Park. In the newest family entertainment complex of the Northern Hungarian region, all visitors, regardless of age, can feel at home and actively spend their free time, choosing between outdoor and indoor attractions.

Cave Szeleta

The total length of its cave passages exceeds 90 meters. The cave provides permanent and temporary accommodation for many endangered animal species, including protected and highly protected bat species. The cave almost 100 meters above the Szinva valley in Triassic limestone, at an altitude of 347 meters above sea level, just opposite the Hámor cemetery, where the tombstone of Ottó Herman is located. Descending the slope after the entrance to the cave, we can stop in the cavity of the cave that remained at the site of the excavation that once reached 12 meters. On the side wall, several meters high, we can see a black line indicating where the original level of the fill was before the excavation began. From the entrance hall, you can go to the left to the shorter and straight to the longer branch of the cave. It is 115 meters long, 3 meters deep, and 13 meters high.

Climbing Park of Hámor

The Climbing Park of Hámor is a natural formation in the Hámor-Puskaporos gorge of the Bükk Mountains, which divides from Miskolc in the direction of Lillafüred to the ’Little Wall’ to the right and the ’Great Wall’ to the left. The Little Wall faces south and the Great Wall faces west. Mountain and rock climbing activities began in Hámor in 1972, the historical result of which is the now existing climbing park with unique insurance/safety conditions.

Fazola Smelter and Massa Museum

Not far from Lillafüred, next to the Garadna stream, stands the smelter built in 1812. Its industrial historical interest is that the Diósgyőr Iron Works started here, and its tourist aspect is that the Lake Hámor was created to process the raw iron produced in the smelter. The first smelter in Ómassa was built by Henrik Fazola, while the new one that gave rise to it is already associated with the name of his son, Frigyes. Next to the smelter is the Massa Museum, which presents the history of iron metallurgy, and a historic forge, and on the other side of the road, an outdoor exhibition presents large metallurgical and mining machines. Every year in September, the smelter comes to life, because at the Fazola Festival, the hammers are put into operation, visual taps are performed at the smelter, the specialists demonstrate rolling and metal casting, and honorary metallurgists are also inaugurated.

Miskolctapolca Lake

One of the most beautiful jewels of the Miskolctapolca resort area, the ancient park and the lake, is hidden in the valley of the Hejő stream. In summer, the heart-warming chirping of birds, and in winter, the concert of frogs fills the beach with life. The Tapolca park provides the perfect location for a romantic walk or a family picnic.

Miskolctapolca Bobsled Track

Hungary's most exciting forest bobsled track is located in Miskolctapolca in the immediate vicinity of the Boating Lake and Cave Bath. The 850 meter long alpine bobsled track, which is open all year round, offers a special experience for both young and old. The bobsleds gliding between centuries-old trees give you the experience of sledding in every season, where everyone chooses the speed that gives them the experience. Gliding down the illuminated track in the evening is a special experience. The track can be used by anyone from the age of 3 to the age of 99.

Avasi Lookout Tower

The Avasi lookout offers a wider than 180-degree view of Miskolc. It is interesting that in strong winds the tower can swing up to 45 cm. In 2010, accident prevention and condition preservation works were carried out on it, in 2017 the press was renovated within the framework of a development project, but a larger-scale reconstruction was also needed, so it awaits its visitors in 2023 with a renewed and strengthened appearance. The "Compass of Miskolc" shines brightly in the evening thanks to the decorative lighting, so it is perfectly visible even when walking in the city center. If you want to see the sprawling city from a bird's eye view, it's worth taking a pleasant walk up to the lookout point.

Paper Industry Museum

The country's only Paper Industry Museum. The museum organized a unique paper history exhibition from its historical relics in order to nurture the tradition and preserve the professional past, which is a curiosity of our city's tourist attractions. The exhibition follows the past and development of papermaking, from the beginning of the invention of paper to the present day, as well as present-day paper production, and presents the factory's more than two hundred years of history. It is possible to visit by prior arrangement.

Herman Ottó Museum and Gallery

The museum was founded in 1899 under the name Borsod-Miskolcz Museum. In 1953, the institution took the name of the versatile scientist Otto Herman. The largest museum in Miskolc. It houses more than 600,000 artefacts. It mainly collects works of art, archaeological finds and minerals, but its ethnographic collection is also significant. In the fine arts collection, you can find works of almost every outstanding figure and trend of Hungarian painting. In its archaeological collection, there are also a large number of prehistoric and conquest-era finds. The permanent exhibition of the Gallery of the Herman Ottó Museum was renewed in 2005, covering approximately 300 square meters. Its organizing principle is chronology. The exhibition presents masterpieces of Hungarian painting from the Baroque era to the Art Nouveau period.

Miskolci Gallery

The Rákóczi House was built by the Miskolc merchant Ferenc Dőry in the 1650s, which is why the basement of the Miskolc Gallery, which operates in the building today, bears his name. The house and II. Ferenc Rákóczi's name came together after the Great War of Independence, as the prince was a guest several times in the building, which was still functioning as a boarding house at the time. The Miskolc Gallery is the visual art center of the city, and in the summer its courtyard with a Mediterranean atmosphere is organically involved in summer events as a concert venue.

DVTK Stadium

The DVTK stadium is the largest stadium in Miskolc. The capacity of the new facility, handed over in May 2018, is 14,655 people. The football team of Diósgyőr VTK hosts its opponents here, but in addition to sports purposes, the arena and other rooms of the stadium are also suitable for other, for example, cultural events.

Herman Ottó Memorial House

Ottó Herman's former holiday home in Lillafüred, the Peleház, was built between 1898 and 1903, as part of the then newly established holiday complex. The building came under the management of the Miskolc museum in 1951, and its first permanent exhibition opened in 1964. In 2007, the memorial house was completely renovated. The exhibition presents the life and work of the museum's namesake, as well as his connections to Miskolc and Hámori-Lillafüred, in two rooms. The garden of the memorial house is the site of colorful museum educational programs from spring to autumn.

Metallurgical Museum of the Hungarian Technical and Transport Museum

The museum, which opened in Felső-Hámor, 1960. The Metallurgical Museum of the Hungarian Technical and Transport Museum can be reached with an easy walk from the Hanging Garden in Lillafüred. During the permanent exhibition of the museum operating in the baroque monument building, we can learn about the secrets of the production and processing of iron. National Theater of Miskolc

In the Diósgyőr Handicrafts Art House, it is possible to present exhibitions, to learn about a craft in live workshops, for community events (folk playhouses, craft demonstrations, concerts, lectures, dance halls), to distribute handicraft products, and to use the library and video library. The House of Arts in Miskolc is a place where stand-up comedy and Attila József can be found side by side. The park was established in 2015, in a forested area of about 5 hectares, in the heart of Bükk. At the same time, the electric go-kart track on the forest trail was completed, on which participants can go karting over a distance of approximately 560 meters. Another unit of the park, among others, is the open-air Maya Playground on an area of 2,500 square meters, which provides entertainment for children.
